As world leaders gather for yet another UNFCCCC Conference of Parties (COP29), let the welfare of the common people be at the center of deliberations and discussions.   African leaders should not see the COP as "business-as-usual", while big corporations hijack the COP process for business negotiations and unfair policies. Always taking yourself to things that happened a few days, weeks, months or years before, or just thinking about the far future. Most of the time, such reflections never come with happy or joyful memories. It is either regret or anxiety. Good thing I was able to catch myself in my thoughts and switch it up all the time. Rather than dwelling on things that I can’t change and things that haven’t even happened yet, I decided to reflect on the beautiful parts of my life, the things I have going on for me and some of the milestones I have accomplished.  It has been a roller coaster season for a lot of us, especially those who live in Nigeria. This is the season of rush and desperation, especially in these climes where everyone is trying to prove their worth. We want to achieve all that we have planned for the year. We want to end the year with a bang. We want to close the year with a lot of victories. We want to show our village people how successful we are, when we travel home for Christmas. This need to end the year in the best way, has given birth to a kind of rush that makes the “ember month mythology”; that evil things like accidents, ritual killings and other tragedies are bound to happen in the last quarter of every year. Some people link this mythology to spiritual mysteries that they associate with the end of the year.
