GIVE UP CONTROL, JUST SURRENDER - Elvira Jordan

GIVE UP CONTROL, JUST SURRENDER - Elvira Jordan

Good Morning Beloved!

In recent days, I am learning how to give up control of everything, except my breathing style, and just let everything happen as they should.

This is not because I have a lazy mind. Yes, I do that which I am expected to do but I have purposely given up control of any outcomes whatsoever, to save my energy from trying to control things that ordinarily shouldn’t be in my care.

I remember a time in my life when I used to think everything happening around me was happening because of much work I put in.

This control could look like;…if I get an opportunity, I must have gotten it because I was so intelligent, so I put more effort in being intelligent. If I made some money, it was because I worked so hard, so I work harder. I thought I was in control so I put so much effort to always be in control.

Even though this might seem normal and agreeable, I got tired of being in control and later realized it wasn’t up to me, and that I wasn’t even in control because I cannot be in charge of LIFE in general.

Well, technically we are in charge of our lives… our own decisions and actions, but never in control of the outcomes of our decisions and actions, especially when other people and objects are involved.

For instance, you may think you are so meticulous about choosing your friends (and not letting them choose you). You consider the people around you, watching their behaviors and later finding them worthy. And then when you become friends… Boom! You see a whole different person.

While you did your part by being careful when choosing friends, it however doesn’t make you in charge of how that friendship turns out in the end.

This above example applies to our career choices, homes we pick, relationships/ marriage, jobs, daily interactions etc.

While we try to do our little best, which actually determines like 10% of how our lives turn out, isn’t it so exhausting to be in control of everything?

It’s so stressful trying to be in charge of how your day will go, how other people will react to you, how things unfold in your daily life…and how life happens to you.

Because the ego wants to take credit for how many eggs our hen laid, how successful our children are, how beautiful our relationships are, how much money we made, we want to be in control to get the desired outcome.

We try to control things because we are afraid of what will happen if we don’t. Which means our need to control stems from FEAR.

Isn’t it exhausting trying to play God? πŸ˜‚

Things started changing for me when I began to realize that my efforts and actions were important for my self fulfillment, but doesn’t determine how things would work out.

In my mind, I replayed how many times I had thought to my self “I got this” and then realized that I didn’t “got” anything.

And then I began to read about the concept of doing my best and SURRENDERING!
I began to understand that although our actions and decisions are important, there is a higher power that determines what happens around us.

Further research showed me that all I have achieved or received in the past only happened because I was meant to experience those moments or have those things, not because I put much effort .

I also learnt that God’s Grace has given me people and things that I didn’t even deserve, despite my own efforts.

Once I learned about surrendering, detaching, doing my best and letting go of outcomes, life became less stressful and started falling into place.

When my mindset changed from “maybe I didn’t get it because I didn’t do it well enough” to something more like “if I didn’t get it, it wasn’t mine in the first place”, life became better and easier.

Today I want you to reflect on your life and all you have achieved. If you think it was all by your power, by all means, go ahead and continue.

But you will must likely see that something extra…supernatural has propelled you thus far.

So why stress about life and trying to be in control all the time?
Just do your own little best, surrender control and let life happen as beautifully as it should.

No matter how hard you try, what will be will be.

BIBLE VERSE: Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

PRAYER: Dear Lord, today I refuse to lean onto my own strength. I surrender all that I have and all that I am to You, the Master of the Universe. Let Your Love and Your Light bring to me today, all that is beautiful and pleasant. Amen

Do have a Blessed Monday and a Successful Week ahead.
