Tackling Violence and Criminality in the Niger Delta with Television Designed Content; A SEARCH Initiative

In a bid to tackle violence and criminality in the Niger Delta, Search for Common Ground and its consortium of partners have introduced several components that examine the role of the government and government institutions, security agencies, community representatives, civil society organizations and the media, to foster an inclusive approach in creating a new face for the Niger Delta. Due to its wealth in natural resources, the need for resource control has generated decades long battle that have defaced the oil rich region, even as the communities and people of the Niger Delta strive towards peaceful coexistence, to drive peace and progress in the region. CODAF AND OTHER CSOs APPLAUD DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT’S ZERO WASTE STRATEGIES; CALLS FOR WASTE PICKERS INCLUSION AND ANTI INCINERATION POLICIES

Community Development Advocacy Foundation (CODAF) applauds the Delta State Government for its efforts towards promoting the Zero Waste Initiative in the state, following a recently held meeting by the Delta State Ministry of Environment and the outcomes of the meeting.  The Consultative Committee’s recommendations for waste segregation from source, sensitization on waste management, and the prerogative to work with transport workers, faith-based organizations, and government MDA’s will set the state as one of the first to take actionable steps towards Zero Waste, if these recommendations are implemented. Executive Director of CODAF, Richard Benin while commending the state government for its laudable step towards waste management and environmental protection, called on the government to prioritize waste pickers inclusion in the process, as they are the waste management agents in the field.  According to him, this can be rightly achieved by establishing a Waste Pickers' Associa...

MY DECEMBER - Elvira Jordan

MY DECEMBER  - Elvira Jordan Good Morning Beloved! I had a very hard time getting a message for today, probably because I’m in very high spirit and may have gone above and beyond.😂 But this will be my last message for the year 2024, as I will be going on a writing break, hoping that my cup is refilled with a fresh perspective in the coming year. (I got you there with the title 😏😉) While we are stylishly moving towards the Yuletide season, I want to remind us a few things.  Some things to note as we move into December: 1. Christmas and New Year may have pagan origins and some disturbing history, but doesn’t change the fact that we have chosen this period to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, to be grateful to God for the year and celebrate with family. Don’t let social media ideologies and rhetorics distract you from YOUR significance of Christmas. If you think Christmas has a problem, just keep it to yourself and allow us to flex.  2. Even though you don’t b...
