The Creek Girl Empowerment Initiative (CGEI) organized a sensitization program in Esenaebe and Kpakima Secondary School, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, to educate and sensitize female students on the dangers of truancy, drug abuse, and prostitution, while promoting menstrual hygiene and care. THE CGEi team visited the communities respectively, to increase awareness among female students about the dangers and consequences of truancy, drug abuse, and prostitution, to improve the understanding of the importance of menstrual hygiene and care, and to establish a support system for female students, particularly those of menstrual age.The team also established the Creek Girl Care Clinic (CGCC), a support system for female students, and also provided sanitary pads, ensuring easy access for female students of menstrual age. The Environmental Defenders Network, EDEN has called for urgent intervention by the relevant authorities, to stop the oil spill from a leaking well head and resultant fire out break between Bukuma and Buguma in Asari Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, describing the incident as an assault to the environment, which has been allowed to go on for too long. The call came after residents of the community sent a save-a-souls to EDEN in the early hours of Monday, the 13th of January 2025, after a huge fire broke out of the well head which has been spilling crude oil since early January, 2025. A resident of the community who spoke to EDEN anonymously alleged that the fire started after an Airforce Helicopter was seen shooting to scare off oil bunkerers around the well head. THE THIN VEIL OF JANUARY - Elvira Jordan  Good Morning Beloved, 💛 You will all agree with me that January is a very anxious month, because the feeling of a new season is just everywhere. Everybody wants to make it work, even though the feeling to make it work ends after the first 5 days, while the anxiety continues.  Even after experiencing quite a number of “Januaries”, one still cannot take away that feeling of a “Fresh Start” that comes with a new year and it is so for a reason.
