A TEST OF THE PAST - Elvira Jordan
Good Morning Beloved! π
Although the word “past” may have a regular meaning, it sure would have a different interpretation for all of us.
My past is a place of slow growth, silent learning and tough lessons, so it’s not a place I want to be or go back to. As much as I acknowledged my past and the role it played in my growth, it carries little or no significance.
As right as this may sound, there are people who relive the lost glories of their past and wish they can be there…not me. No past glory is worth returning to old ways of learning and crude coping mechanisms.
I recently had a brush with my past and it was such a moment of enlightenment. I was awakened to the realization of how much I have grown, how different I am now from who I used to be, and how much I never want to ever be in the past or come across it. I’ll tell you why.
I am a strong believer of life progression and the mindset that nothing is ever a coincidence. People, places, situations and occurrences are all a part of our lives, subtly guiding us to who we are and where we ought to be. Nothing happens just by passing.
Now, there are certain People, places, situations and occurrences that may have played out in our lives some weeks, months and years ago that helped us to learn, shape who we are, and gave us the knowledge, opportunities, wisdom and progress we have today.
Some of these situations may be sweet past memories, bitter or bitter-sweet. After our lessons are learnt, they fly away from our lives and leave us to face the consequences of our actions, enjoy our progress, learn from our lessons, or wallow in the loop of these past places and situations.
However, a time in your life will come when you feel fulfilled, healed from the past, grown and all ready for the next phase. That confidence builds something in the energetic realm that triggers the universe to let you know where you actually are, by bringing the past back around.
The past will show up in your life from time to time, to check where you are mentally, physically and spiritually. It will show you how much you have learnt, whether you have truly grown, if you have truly left behind what doesn’t serve you and if you are ready for the next phase of your life.
This return of the past will show you wounds that are still open, scars that are healed, areas of you life you need to work on and if you’re lucky, your past may also show you where next you’re heading.
You have to note that when the past comes back around, it’s not a place to entertain and make room for, in your mansion of thoughts. It should be treated like a road. You just pass through it and leave it behind.
In my recent encounter with my past, I took some notes, and I am glad to share that the recent brush with my past has shown me that I am no longer people pleasing, I no longer desire to be understood, I have moved away from over explaining myself, and I no longer care about fitting in, proving a point or trying to appear how I think people want me to appear.
I am happy that my past has shown me how much I have grown, and that is the only value it holds in my life.
Your past may come breezing in again.
Treat it like a road.
You don’t have to stop. π
You just take note of the signs. πͺ§
Recognize where you are.
Calculate the road ahead.
Just keep moving.
BIBLE VERSE: 1 Corinthians 10:11 (NIV)
These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, remove every obstacle that will slow down our journey to fulfillment. In all we do, give us clarity of mind, purpose and vision that will guide us to our places of exaltation. Amen ππ½
Do have a Blessed Monday and a Successful Week ahead.
