CREATING WITH DECISIONS - Elvira Jordan
Good Morning Beloved!
Let us paint a scenario…
So there’s a man going on his way to work on a Monday morning. He goes to board a public bus going to his destination and was accosted by a street tout. They get into a heated altercation that led the tout to strike the man with a blow or a slap. The man who is dressed for work has two decisions to make. He can either drop his laptop bag (or keep it strapped) to teach the tout a lesson by showcasing some of the martial arts skills he has been practicing for decades now. He can also just shrug off the anger and decide to go on his way, to meet up with his daily work and get along with his life.
Let us assume he picks the former and strikes the tout with a one of his moves… I mean the one to the throat that will restrict the receiver’s air flow and breathing for a couple of minutes. The tout passes out and hits the ground hard breaking his head. Chaos arises. People gather. The man who was fully dressed for work was lynched by a mob of angry touts and he died. Or he was lucky enough to have a police van nearby, he was arrested, taking to a police cell, and then to prison. It takes him about a year and six months to fight his case, selling all his properties and valuables until he gets out.
Do you see the progression of this scenario?
Two likely decisions.
Three possible outcomes.
******
I have often times heard people ask in despair “God, why did you let this happen? God, where are you?”
You will also hear people ask questions like “If God is alive, why will he let this happen?”
The honest truth is this, God does not let anything happen. He created us and made everything available for us, giving us the freedom to choose what we want, to make our lives what we want it to be and watch us take the steps that we see fit to take, while he also allows us to endure or enjoy the outcome of our steps.
Even the miracles that we say “God did”, He didn’t do. Of course, it is His power made sufficient for us that brings these miracles to life, but like I said, the powers have already been created for us, but it is our own will, our own faith and our own actions that brings everything we see, everything we get, every miracle we experience, every folly we deep ourselves into.
When God created man, he gave us the freedom to make decisions, every one of us, creating the life we desire, good or bad. Giving us what we deserve based on the decisions we make.
When the bible says we were created in God’s image, it means we were created to also be creators… this a lot of people understand. But one part we fail to acknowledge is that, as the creators that we are, we are capable to equally create both good and bad. It all depends strongly on our DECISION, whether consciously or unconsciously.
This is why those of us who take impulsive decisions are often held trapped in a particular state of mind, a particular lifestyle, a life path that may or may not affect us negatively. We end up blaming God for the outcomes of these decisions, shouting to the heavens for miracles, kicking at life for not giving us what we want, yet we wake up everyday choosing what is wrong.
This is because every decision we make is an opportunity to create. So when we make decisions out of impulse, we sell out our chances of creation to the wind, giving up our power of creation. Hence, whatever we get out of our impulsive decisions, whether good or bad, we are forced to live with the decisions we have made.
Like I always say in my write ups, I don’t just write because I know too much. I write because I see lapses in my life, I ask God for direction and he gives me these words to help set me aright and lead me to where I ought to be.
I encourage us all today to be more aware of our every step, our every decision, our every conversation, the people we encounter, the chances we take and the things we say. Because every decision is a chance to create something in our lives. So before you act or do anything, first ask yourself, What Am I Creating?
As you go about your day, ponder on these words.
BIBLE VERSE: Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, guide the decisions we make today, that we will be led to Your Divine will for our lives. Let our every step bring us closer to Destiny. Amen ππ½
Do have a Blessed Monday and a Successful Week ahead.
